I want better audio for gaming and music, but I do not want to wake up three weeks from now reading DAC forums and arguing about cables.

Looking for an open-back headset or headphone setup under $200 that is good enough to enjoy, easy enough to plug in, and does not require buying three extra boxes to sound right. I care more about comfort and positional audio than about pretending I am mastering an album.

What is the cleanest recommendation here for someone who wants a noticeable step up without accidentally creating a new expensive side quest?

If you want the lowest-friction answer, the PC38X is still hard to beat. Easy to run, comfortable, good mic, and it does not drag you into "now buy an amp" territory on day one.
